Vehicle Hits Two Pedestrians on Union Avenue in Bakersfield Killing One and Injuring the Other

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 6, 2023) – A woman died and a man was injured in a pedestrian accident on Union Avenue in East Bakersfield late Sunday evening on June 4.
 
Police said the victims attempted to cross the road from the center median, walking directly in front of a vehicle when they were struck around 11:06 p.m.
 
When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from fatal injuries and pronounced her dead at the scene.
 
Paramedics rushed the man to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
 
The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene.
 
Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash, police said.
 
An investigation is ongoing. The Bakersfield Police Department urged anyone with further information to all them at 661-327-7111.
