Woman in Crosswalk Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Sunrise Boulevard in Rancho Cordova

 
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (July 8, 2022) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Sunrise Boulevard in Rancho Cordova on Monday , July 4.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 2:00 a.m. at the westbound Highway 50 on-ramp. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the female pedestrian was walking in a crosswalk along Sunrise Boulevard when a vehicle struck her.
 
After striking the victim, the vehicle drove away without stopping.
 
Rancho Cordova police immediately responded and found the woman suffering from major injuries. Paramedics attempted life-saving aid, but the victim died at the scene.
 
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the woman’s identity once family members are properly notified.
 
At this time, the hit-and-run suspect remains at large.
