Early Morning Hit-and-Run Crash on South Carpenter Road in Modesto Leaves Pedestrian Dead

 
MODESTO, CA (November 8, 2022) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on South Carpenter Road in Modesto early Monday morning on November 7.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:00 a.m. at Waverly Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was crossing the street on South Carpenter Road when a vehicle struck her.
 
Arriving emergency personnel found the woman lying in the southbound lane of South Carpenter Road with fatal injuries.
 
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Officers said the involved vehicle fled before they arrived. They described it as a small, dark-colored older model pickup truck.
 
It is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol played a role in this crash. An investigation is underway. Authorities urged witnesses to call the Modesto Area CHP at 209-545-7440.
