Driver Dies after Colliding Head-On into Peterbilt Truck Tractor on Highway 299 near Fall River Mills

 
FALL RIVER MILLS, CA (August 14, 2022) – A woman died in a head-on accident on Highway 299 near Fall River Mills on Saturday morning, August 13.
 
The accident happened around 5:05 a.m. just west of Pit No. 1 Powerhouse Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was driving her 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt west on the highway at approximately 55 to 60 mph.
 
For unknown reasons, she crossed over the double-yellow lines and crashed head-on into a 2014 Peterbilt truck-tractor towing an unloaded flat-bed trailer while heading east up a grade at 45 mph.
 
As a result, the driver of the Cobalt suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was 25 years old from Montgomery Creek.
 
The driver of the Peterbilt, 25-year-old Jose Ramirez of Corning, and his passenger, 50-year-old Vincent Ramirez of Corning, were not injured.
 
The CHP said alcohol was not a factor in the crash and the woman was not wearing a seat belt. An investigation is ongoing.
