Two-Car Crash on 80 Freeway in Davis Kills 1 and Injures 4 Others

 
DAVIS, CA (September 26, 2023) – A woman was killed and four other people were injured in a two-car accident on 80 Freeway in Davis Sunday evening on September 24.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly after 10:00 p.m. near Highway 113, just west of Richards Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound on the freeway in the left lane at a high rate of speed. At the same time, a Nissan Maxima was traveling ahead of the Sentra.
 
The Maxima was changing lanes when the Sentra hit the left rear of the car.
 
As a result of the crash, the woman who was a rear passenger of the Maxima suffered fatal injuries. She died at the scene. Authorities only described her was someone in her 20s. She was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

Four other people, including both drivers, sustained minor to moderate injuries. All of them were hospitalized.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
