Car Hits Bridge on Kusel Road in Oroville Killing One Passenger, Dakota O’Reily Arrested

 
OROVILLE, CA (February 25, 2024) – A woman died and Dakotah Eugene O’Reily was arrested after a hit-and-run crash in South Oroville early Saturday morning on February 24.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on Kusel Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, O’Reily was driving a car eastbound with the woman and another passenger, Richard Lee Overturf. For unknown reasons, the car went off the roadway and hit a bridge.
 
After the crash, both O’Reily and Overturf were able to get out of the car and transport themselves to the hospital. O’Reily had a broken wrist and cuts and bruises to the face. Overturf had cuts and bruises. Both were Oroville residents.
 
The woman was left behind the wreckage. First responders found her dead at the scene.
 
Officers later arrested O’Reily for vehicle manslaughter and feeling the scene of the crash resulting in injury and/or death.
 
An investigation is ongoing. The CHP asked witnesses to call them at 530-332-1230.
