55-Year-Old Woman Dies in Hit-and-Run on 15 Freeway in Carmel Mountain Area

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 23, 2021) – A woman died in a three-vehicle hit-and-run on 15 Freeway in the Carmel Mountain area early Thursday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 2:00 a.m. on September 23, at Ted Williams Parkway and Highway 56. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 30-year-old man was driving a black Ford F-150 when he collided with a Toyota sedan, driven by the 55-year-old victim from Chula Vista.
 
After the initial crash, the Ford pickup became disabled within the traffic lanes. A Kia Sedan, driven by a 51-year-old Desert Hot Springs man, then struck the Ford.
 
The driver of the Ford fled the scene on foot. The San Diego Police Department conducted an extensive search and found the suspect and arrested him.
 
The Chula Vista woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Kia sustained minor injuries and was taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
