Woman Dies in 2-Car Crash on Taft Highway in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 18, 2022)— A woman died in a two-car accident on Taft Highway near Buena Vista Road on Monday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle accident happened around 7:30 a.m. For unknown reasons, an 80-year-old woman at a stop sign proceeded to turn directly into the path of another vehicle, possibly a semi-truck of some sort.
 
As a result, both vehicles crashed, and one vehicle struck a light pole.
 
Soon after, firefighter paramedics and CHP officers responded to the scene, but the woman died from her injuries. A 19-year-old riding in one of the vehicles suffered moderate injuries while the driver of the other vehicle reported no injuries.
 
At this time, officials have not confirmed the leading cause of the accident. However, if anyone has more information, please call the CHP.
