Woman Hurt after Train Strikes Car on South Street

 
REDDING, CA (December 16, 2021) — A woman is recovering after a train hit her car on South Street near Railroad Avenue on Tuesday evening.
 
According to Redding Police, the crash happened around 8:20 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 50-year-old woman in a Ford drove through the railroad crossing arms. As a result, an oncoming Union Pacific train collided with her vehicle.
 
As a result of the accident, the woman suffered major injuries, urging firefighter-paramedics to bring her to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.
 
At this time, officers have not confirmed the cause. However, an ongoing investigation into this case should reveal more information.
