Redding Accident on 5 Freeway Leaves Woman with Leg Injuries

 
REDDING, CA (October 4, 2021) – A woman sustained injuries after an accident on 5 Freeway in Redding late Tuesday evening.
 
The accident happened just before 11:30 p.m. on September 28, in the Lakehead area near Gilman Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving northbound on the freeway when she sideswiped a pickup truck. After jumping over the median wall, a car heading southbound on the freeway struck her.
 
The driver of the pickup told officers that the woman was swerving in and out of the road and kept putting her car in reverse while traveling at 60 mph. He said after her car stopped working half a mile up the road, she jumped into southbound traffic, where a semi truck almost hit her.
 
As a result of the crash, the woman suffered injuries to her leg. Paramedics took her to a hospital for proper treatment.
 
At this time, it has not been confirmed if the woman was under the influence while driving. An investigation is still ongoing.
