Woman Hospitalized, Driver Hits Horse, Rider During Oakland Parade on Broadway
OAKLAND, CA (March 1, 2022) — A woman suffered an injury after a driver hit a horse and its rider during a parade on Broadway at 12th Street.
According to reports, the incident happened Sunday afternoon during the annual Black Joy Parade. For unknown reasons, a horse carrying a woman bolted down Broadway toward 12th Street. Although the woman screamed “Stop!”, the horse continued and reached the intersection where a black Toyota Camry slammed into it.
Due to the impact, the victim flew off the horse and landed on the pavement. A second horse, who also galloped away from the parade, was stopped.
Soon after, paramedics responded and found the unconscious woman in the street and placed a neck brace on her. Subsequently, they shuttled her to a local hospital in unknown condition while police questioned the female driver of the Toyota.
