DUI Driver Involved in Semi-Truck Accident on Highway 65 in Kern County
KERN COUNTY, CA (May 6, 2021) – Paramedics sent a woman to the hospital following a semi-truck accident on Highway 65 on May 5.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just south of Famoso Road.
Based on a report, the woman was driving a Cadillac southbound on the highway prior to the crash. At the same time, two big rigs were on the northbound lane. Due to unknown reasons, the Cadillac veered into the northbound lane and sideswiped the left side of one of the trucks.
Then, the driver of the semi lost control of his vehicle and became jackknifed across the roadway. The Cadillac continued southbound and struck the front end of the second truck. Subsequently, it also lost control and overturned.
As a result, the 29-year-old Tulare woman suffered moderate injuries in the incident. Crews took her to Kern Medical for treatment. The big rig drivers were not hurt.
Officials believed alcohol was a factor in this semi-truck accident on Highway 65. At this time, an investigation is still ongoing.
