Crash at Panda Express in Redding Sends Driver to Hospital
REDDING, CA (March 25, 2021) – An elderly woman was sent to the hospital after she crashed into a Panda Express in Redding Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened just after 1:00 p.m., March 23. Police said they got a call to the Panda Express located at 966 Dana Drive. The woman was driving a 2015 Kia Soul when she inadvertently drove into the restaurant’s outdoor patio trellis.
The driver reportedly hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes. The car then accelerated into the exterior of the building, according to the Redding Police Department.
Paramedics took the driver to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Two people who were sitting at a table that was hit also sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention, police said.
While nobody was seriously hurt, major damage was done to the restaurant’s outdoor patio trellis.
Panda Express stayed open as crews worked to clear the wrecked car from the side of the building. An investigation is ongoing.
