Woman Dies after Struck by Big Rig on Volta Road in Merced County

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (July 12, 2021) – A woman was hit and killed by a big rig on Volta Road in Merced County Friday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:00 p.m. on July 9, near Highway 152. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman ran into the roadway when the southbound big rig struck her.
 
Arriving units pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
 
The driver of the big rig did not sustain any injuries. He told officers that he was not able to stop in time and hit the woman.
 
The identity of the victim was not immediately available. This fatal accident is still under investigation.
