Woman Dead in Arbuckle Wrong-Way Accident on 5 Freeway

 
ARBUCKLE, CA (August 3, 2021) — A woman died in a wrong-way crash on the 5 Freeway near Greenbay Road Sunday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-car crash happened around 9:15 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 76-year-old man was driving his Toyota Prius in the wrong direction. Subsequently, the Washington man’s car collided head-on with a Dodge minivan that was going about 65 miles per hour.
 
As a result of the accident, the 74-year-old Washington woman seated in the right-front seat of the Prius died in the accident. Meanwhile, the driver suffered major injuries and required immediate hospital care in Chico.
 
As for the occupants of the Dodge, the 41-year-old female driver sustained moderate injuries and her 40-year-old male passenger sustained major injuries. Due to their condition, paramedics rushed them to a hospital in Marysville.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed the ultimate cause. However, anyone with more information should contact the CHP.
