Woman, Child Die in Overturned Crash on Varner Road in Thousand Palms

 
THOUSAND PALMS, CA (February 16, 2022) — A woman and child died in an overturned accident on Varner Road near Boca Chica Trail on Tuesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal single-car accident occurred around 9:10 a.m. For unknown reasons, a 27-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle. Subsequently, the vehicle veered off the road and overturned, ejecting her and her 3-year-old passenger.
 
As a result of the crash, the woman – who did not wear a seatbelt – died at the scene.
 
The child – who also had been unrestrained – died at Eisenhower Medical Center with major injures.
 
At this time, officers have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the accident. However, any witnesses with insight to share on this crash should turn to the CHP.
