Man Dies after Struck by Car while Standing on 205 Freeway near Hansen Road

 
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (February 14, 2022)Willie Lewis Sr. died after being struck by car on 205 Freeway near Tracy on Tuesday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:48 p.m. on February 8, just west of Hansen Road overpass. According to the CHP, a Saturn sedan and a GMC SUV were stopped on freeway, partially on the right shoulder and in the far-right slow lane.
 
Lewis, who was driving the GMC SUV, got out of the vehicle and was standing in the lane of traffic talking to the occupants of the Saturn sedan, a 44-year-old male driver and a 58-year-old female passenger, both from Oakland.
 
Moments later, a white Audi driven by a 41-year-old Tracy man, struck Lewis.
 
The impact of the crash caused Lewis fatal injuries and he died at the scene. He was 62-year-old Oakland resident, according to the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office.
 
At this time, CHP officers are still investigating why both vehicles were stopped on the freeway.
