Pedestrian Willie Jackson Dies after Struck by Unlicensed Teen Driver in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (February 23, 2022) – A man died in a pedestrian accident at Artesia Boulevard and Orizaba Avenue on Thursday, February 10.
 
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office identified the victim as 48-year-old Willie Jackson.
 
According to the Long Beach Police Department, Jackson was walking in the area around 8:30 p.m. when a 2011 Lincoln MKS struck him.
 
When officers arrived, they found Jackson trapped underneath the car. They pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
The driver, a 17-year-old Long Beach male, remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. He did not have a driver’s license and was released to a parent at the scene.
 
According to police, distracted driving, speeding, or alcohol or drug impairment do not appear to be a factor in the accident. Further investigation is underway.
