Vivian Pope Fatally Injured after Hit-and-Run Crash on Union Avenue near 4th Street

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 26, 2022) — 56-year-old Vivian Lajoy Pope, of Bakersfield, died after a hit-and-run accident on Saturday, August 20.
 
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident happened around 9:47 p.m. in the 400 block of Union Avenue.
 
Investigators said Pope walked in the area outside of the crosswalk. Then a dark sedan struck Pope and left her with serious injuries. The driver of the sedan left the scene without giving aid to Pope.
 
Officials describe the suspect vehicle as an early 2000s black Chevrolet or GMC extended cab pickup. In addition, the vehicle probably has damage near the driver’s side headlight and an inoperable driver’s side rear taillight.
 
Authorities ask the public for help in finding the suspect and the involved. Anyone with information about the crash can contact BPD at 661-327-7111.
