Luis Christian Silva Dies, DA Declines to Charge Suspected DUI Driver Jose Antonio Celedon in Wildomar Motorcycle Crash

WILDOMAR, CA (June 6, 2022) — One person died in a motorcycle accident on Bundy Canyon Road near Cottonwood Canyon Road on Tuesday, May 31.

The Menifee Police Department identified the victim as 32-year-old Luis Christian Silva of Winchester.

According to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, at about 5:15 a.m. Silva rode his motorcycle westbound on Bundy Canyon Road at an unknown speed, approaching Cottonwood Canyon Road. At the same time, 41-year-old Jose Antonio Celedon reached the intersection driving a sedan.

Celedon traveled south on Cottonwood Canyon Road and allegedly initiated a left turn onto Bundy Canyon Road — directly in front of Silva, who had the right of way.

The motorcyclist was unable to stop prior to colliding with the vehicle. As a result, Silva ejected from his motorcycle.

Paramedics reached the location and pronounced Silva dead at the scene.

Patrol officers questioned Celedon and determined that he was allegedly inebriated. Celedon was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of second-degree murder, felony DUI and DUI resulting in great bodily injury for the death.

However, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges against Celedon, pending additional investigation by police.

Witnesses should call the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the bereaved friends and family of Luis Christian Silva.
