Driver Hurt in Two-Car Accident on 54th Street near College Grove Drive

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 2, 2023) — Two women suffered serious injuries in a two-car crash on 54th Street on Sunday, January 1.
 
According to Officer Sarah Foster of the San Diego Police Department, at around 8:32 a.m. Sunday, a 29-year-old woman drove a 2014 Volkswagen Golf southbound on 54th Street. It moved towards the intersection with College Grove Drive.
 
At the same time, another 55-year-old woman traveled eastbound through the intersection in a 2012 Toyota Highlander. The driver of the Volkswagen failed to yield at the red light. Then it hit the Toyota.
 
Forster said the Toyota then hit an MTS bus that stopped at the light.
 
Medics rushed both drivers of the Toyota and Volkswagen to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
 
The bus driver was not hurt. There were also no passengers on the bus.
 
Traffic investigators continue to investigate the crash.
