LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (October 5, 2021) — On Saturday afternoon, two people suffered injuries in a crash on Highway 18 near Custer Avenue in Lucerne Valley.
 
San Bernardino County fire officials said the incident happened at approximately 11:00 a.m. It involved a gold-colored Ford pickup truck and a black four-door sedan.
 
Officials summoned two medical helicopters to respond to the scene. They landed at nearby Pioneer Park and subsequently airlifted two people to trauma centers. This, following the patient’s extrication from both vehicles which sustained extensive front-end damage.
 
The names of the injured parties were not immediately available. Additionally, updates on their condition have not been released.
 
Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol Barstow Station is investigating what caused the collision and how it unfolded.
