Car Crashes into Light Pole on Sixth Avenue in San Diego, Pedestrian Struck by Debris

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 21, 2021) – Two pedestrians were injured after a car crashed into a light pole on Sixth Avenue in the Cortez Hill area of San Diego on Saturday afternoon.
 
The incident happened around 12:16 p.m. on December 18, near Cedar Street. According to the San Diego Police Department, a 58-year-old man was driving a Toyota Camry when after moving to the left, he drove onto the sidewalk and struck the light pole, parking meter and tree.
 
Debris from the crash struck two pedestrians who were walking on the sidewalk. Both victims, described as men between 65 and 75 years old, were taken to a hospital.
 
One of the men had life-threatening internal injuries, while the other had minor injuries.
 
The driver was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
 
An investigation into this incident is ongoing.
