Rear-End Accident on Highway 99 in Visalia Kills Two People
VISALIA, CA (March 15, 2021) – Two people died in a rear-end accident on Highway 99 in Visalia Friday afternoon, March 12.
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. near Avenue 48. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2006 Chevrolet traveled north on the highway when it rear-ended a 2003 Toyota that was pulling a trailer. The Toyota overturned from the impact.
As a result, a 30-year-old male passenger in the Toyota, ejected from the car and died at the scene. He was not wearing his seatbelt.
A 27-year-old San Diego woman, who was in the Toyota, also died in the accident.
The driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Chevrolet was unharmed.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. Further investigation is underway.
