Head-On Crash on Highway 247 in Lucerne Valley Claims 2 Lives

 
LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (July 19, 2021) – Two people died in a head-on accident on Highway 247 in Lucerne Valley late Thursday evening, July 15.
 
The accident happened around 11:20 p.m. just west of Parmeson Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old Salinas man was driving a Honda Accord westbound on the highway. At the same time, a 50-year-old Lancaster man driving a GMC Yukon was coming in the opposite direction.
 
For unknown reasons, the driver of the Accord traveled into the opposing lane, directly into the path of the GMC, causing a head-on collision.
 
As a result of the collision, the driver of the Accord and the right front passenger of the Honda, a 29-year-old Wasco man, both died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the GMC and a backseat passenger of the Honda suffered major blunt force trauma. Paramedics airlifted both to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in unknown conditions.
 
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
