Car Accident on Highway 4 in Contra Costa County Kills 2 Passengers and Injures Driver

 
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (October 4, 2021) – Two people were killed in a car accident on Highway 4 in Contra Costa County Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened a little after 6:30 a.m. on October 2, in the eastbound lanes of the highway, just east of McEwen Road near Martinez. According to the California Highway Patrol, a blue SUV left the roadway, went down an embankment and hit a tree.
 
As a result, the two passengers in the car both died at the scene. Both were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Their identities were not immediately available.
 
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, only sustained minor injuries.
 
At this time, CHP officials are still investigating the cause of the crash and factors involved.
