Rear-End Accident on 101 Freeway in Ventura Injures Two Drivers, One Seriously

 
VENTURA, CA (June 21, 2021) – Two people sustained injuries in a rear-end accident on 101 Freeway near Victoria Avenue Sunday morning.
 
The accident happened just before 8:15 a.m. on June 20, while traffic was backed up from a fatal crash earlier that morning. According to the CHP, a Nissan Armada SUV had slowed down for the stoppage when a white older-model Toyota man rear-ended it. The impact caused the Armada to roll over on its roof.
 
Ventura City firefighters used hydraulic equipment to pull the male driver of the van from the wreckage. Oxnard firefighters also responded. Paramedics then took the man to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries.
 
A woman driving the Armada sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The two drivers were alone in their respective vehicles.
 
Investigators saw no signs of alcohol or drug impairment in the crash. At this time, the CHP’s Ventura office is investigating the exact cause and factors involved.
