Grandmother and Granddaughter Hurt in Modesto Pedestrian Accident on Orangeburg Avenue

 
MODESTO, CA (September 14, 2021) — A grandmother and her granddaughter were hurt in a pedestrian accident on Orangeburg Avenue.
 
According to the police, a vehicle struck them while they were walking to school in Modesto on Monday, September 13.
 
The incident occurred at about 8:00 a.m. at West Orangeburg and Martin Avenue. Officers rushed to the scene of the crash. They discovered the 54-year-old woman and her 8-year-old granddaughter lying on the roadway.
 
Police said the sedan involved in the incident moved eastbound on Orangeburg Avenue. Then it struck the two while they moved across the crosswalk to the intersection. The woman’s grandson was also with them, but he was not struck.
 
The grandmother had moderate injuries to her leg. Then she received treatment at a hospital. Medics airlifted the girl to a hospital in critical condition.
 
The 21-year-old driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers. Officials do not believe drugs and alcohol contributed to the collision.
 
Officials continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
