Fiery Accident on Main Street in Vista Sends 2 People to Hospital

 
VISTA, CA (August 31, 2022) – Two people were hospitalized in a fiery accident on Main Street in Vista on Sunday evening, August 28.
 
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection with Vista Village Drive. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, a 23-year-old man driving a Scion was traveling eastbound on Vista Village with a 20-year-old female passenger. For unknown reasons, their car hit a Ford Mustang.
 
The impact of the crash caused the Scion to run off the road and crash into a tree and concrete wall. It then burst into flames.
 
Both the driver and the passenger were trapped inside the burning car.
 
First responders were able to rescue the driver and passenger. The driver suffered major but non-life-threatening injuries, while the passenger had unspecified injuries.
 
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
