LOS ANGELES, CA (March 31, 2021) — Two people died and three others injured in a wrong-way accident on 110 Freeway on Tuesday, March 30.

According to Sgt. Jeff Lane of the California Highway Patrol, the three-vehicle crash occurred just before 2 a.m., just south of Ninth Street. A 32-year-old man drove a 2006 Lexus SUV RS400 southbound in a northbound lane of 110 Freeway and crashed head-on into a 1999 Toyota Camry. Two people inside the sedan suffered fatal injuries.

Authorities only identified the deceased as a man from Downey and a woman from Bellflower. Both victims were 30 years old.

The SUV driver sustained serious injuries. The 32-year-old woman in the passenger seat and a 4-year-old child in the backseat of the SUV suffered minor injuries. Paramedics rushed them all to the hospital for treatment.

Officers suspect alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Authorities said a third vehicle struck the Toyota after the initial collision.
