U-Haul Truck Involved in Accident on Washington Street near Broadway in Alameda

 
ALAMEDA, CA (May 29, 2022) – Police arrested two people after a U-Haul truck accident in the 1100 block of Washington Street on May 24.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Broadway around 1:30 PM.
 
Based on reports, police officers saw the U-Haul truck speeding in the lanes. However, before they could stop the truck, it crashed into a parked car at Washington. Subsequently, one of the two occupants of the truck jumped out and ran away from the scene.
 
At this point, it is not clear if there were injuries in the incident.
 
Police also found fentanyl and drug paraphernalia in the truck. In the end, they caught the suspect with the help of the community. They took the 35-year-old Alameda man, with multiple outstanding felony warrants, and a 38-year-old Alameda woman into custody.
 
As of now, an investigation is still ongoing.
