Troy Rassbach Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 near Indianola Cutoff
EUREKA, CA (May 20, 2022) — 59-year-old Troy Rassbach died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 101 near the Indianola Cutoff on Saturday, May 14.
According to the California Highway patrol, Rassbach walked within the lanes of the highway on Saturday morning. Then an oncoming vehicle crashed with him. The incident happened on the southbound side of the highway, north of the Indianola Cutoff.
Emergency responders gave medical aid to Rassbach. Yet, he still succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
Authorities do not believe the driver of the vehicle, 44-year-old Stephanie Mellen, of Eureka was under the influence. However, autopsy results are yet to determine if Rassbach was impaired at the time of the incident.
