UC Davis Student Dies after Struck by Garbage Truck on Dairy Road

 
DAVIS, CA (May 26, 2022) – Tris Yasay was killed in a pedestrian accident in Davis Wednesday morning on May 25.
 
The accident happened just after 8:00 a.m. at Dairy Road and Hutchinson Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, a garbage struck had struck Yasay at the junction near the campus.
 
First responders rushed the victim to the UC Davis Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
 
Yasay was 19 years old. She was a freshman UC Davis student majoring in sustainable agriculture and was just weeks away from completing her first year away at college.
 
Both the City of Davis and UC Davis police departments, along with West Sacramento police, will be investigating the incident.
