Traffic Reported in 3-Car Accident on Highway 101 in Montecito
MONTECITO, CA (May 17, 2022) — Commuters faced heavy traffic following a 3-car crash on Highway 101 near San Ysidro on Saturday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the multi-car accident happened around 11:40 a.m. For unknown reasons, three cars crashed on Highway 101 between Montecito and Carpinteria. As a result, traffic backed up all the way to Highway 150.
Soon after, authorities responded to the scene to assess the accident while paramedics arrived to evaluate the involved occupants.
At this time, it’s unclear what led to the multi-car crash and how many people suffered injuries, if that. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm any ambiguous details.
To minimize the risks of causing a multi-car crash, keep your distance from other cars. Moving at a controlled and safe speed allows you more control of the wheel should any emergencies come up. Remember this when driving on highways.
