Tommy Chu Killed, Jorge Augustin Arrested in DUI Accident on 15 Freeway [Corona, CA]

Police Arrest Jorge Augustin for DUI after Fatal Crash on 15 Freeway near Weirick Road

 
CORONA, CA (February 15, 2022) – Tommy Chu died and police arrested Jorge Anival Gomez Augustin after a fatal DUI crash in Corona, early Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened around 3:00 a.m. on February 12 near Weirick Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Augustin was driving a Mercedes-Benz E-350 northbound when he allegedly plowed into the rear of a Honda CRV, driven by Chu.
 
After the impact, both vehicles went off the freeway, down an embankment and across the Weirick Road off-ramp lanes. The vehicles then came to rest near the exit ramp.
 
Chu, a 44-year-old Corona resident, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to the Corona Fire Department paramedics. He was the sole occupant of his car.
 
Augustin, a 29-year-old, also a resident of Corona, was unharmed.
 
Police arrested Augustin on suspicion of second-degree murder and DUI. They booked him into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside.
