Passenger Dies after Car Overturns on East Alvarado Street in Fallbrook, Driver Mark Sorden Faces DUI Charges

 
FALLBROOK, CA (July 12, 2021)Timothy Campbell died in a DUI rollover crash in Fallbrook early Thursday morning, July 8.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 5:00 a.m. on East Alvarado Street near Palmas Norte. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 55-year-old victim from Oceanside was a passenger in an eastbound 1996 Cadillac Seville. The car, driven by 58-year-old Mark Aaron Sorden of Fallbrook, veered off a curving stretch of the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.
 
After the crash, both Campbell and Sorden were trapped inside the car. The North County Fire Protection District crews extricated both victims from the wreckage.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, Campbell died at the scene.
 
Paramedics took Sorden to a hospital in critical condition.
 
Police believe that Sorden was under the influence of some sort of controlled substance at the time of the crash. They will book him into county jail on suspicion of DUI causing death upon his release from medical care.
