Stanislaus County Head-On Crash Kills Man, Injures Newman Woman

 
STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (July 8, 2022) – Timo Martinelli died in a head-on accident in western Stanislaus County on Wednesday afternoon, July 6.
 
The accident happened around 4:25 p.m. at Crows Landing Road and Harding Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Martinelli was driving a driving a 2003 Honda. At the same time, 34-year-old Valerie Torres from Newman was driving a 2019 Honda.
 
For unknown reasons, the two cars collided head-on at the intersection. The 2019 Honda came to rest straddling the northbound and southbound lanes. The 2003 Honda came to rest on the east edge of the road. Both cars sustained major front-end damage.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, 21-year-old Ceres resident Martinelli died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics took Torres to Doctors Medical Center with major injuries.
 
At this time, it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
