Three People Including Two Children Die in Kings County Car Crash on Highway 43

KINGS COUNTY, CA (April 6, 2021) – Three people were killed in a car accident on Highway 43 Thursday night, April 1.

The crash happened around 6:20 p.m. just north of Nevada Avenue, a few miles from Corcoran. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Toyota 4Runner was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed approaching a Chevrolet Tahoe heading in the opposite direction. CHP officials said there were three children in the Chevrolet.

The driver of the Toyota crossed over into the path of the Chevrolet. The driver of the Chevrolet tried to avoid hitting the Toyota but the vehicles collided head-on. The impact sent both vehicles off the highway and into the embankments on each side. The Toyota flipped over and burst into flames.

As a result, the driver of the Toyota died at the scene. Authorities only identified him as a 44-year-old man from the Cutler/Orosi area.

Two children in the Chevrolet, a 16-year-old girl and an 11-year-old girl, also did not survive.

The Chevrolet’s driver, a 45-year-old Corcoran man, and a 9-year-old boy both suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported them to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.

An investigation into this fatal crash is underway.
