Thomas Arriaga III, Dog Hurt in Police Pursuit Crash on Highland Avenue at Utah Street

 
EUREKA, CA (April 27, 2022)Thomas Arriaga III was arrested in a police chase accident on Highland Avenue at Utah Street on April 25.
 
According to Eureka police, the crash happened Monday around 7:05 p.m. Upon seeing a reportedly stolen car parked in the 3500 block of Broadway, an officer parked behind the driver. However, as the officer initiated a traffic stop, 22-year-old Arriaga fled, leading the officer on a high-speed chase.
 
When Arriaga reached a dead end where Highland Avenue meets Utah Street, the black sedan crashed into a steep grassy embankment. Following the incident, officers arrested Arriaga, who suffered major injuries, while paramedics treated a dog inside the car who suffered moderate injuries.
 
At this time, California Highway Patrol officers plan to investigate this incident from all angles. Anyone with additional details should call the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office.
