Teen Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Semi-Truck on 15 Freeway in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 19, 2022) — A teen pedestrian was hit and killed by a big rig on the 15 Freeway near Carroll Canyon Road on Sunday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred around 5:35 a.m. For unknown reasons, the 19-year-old was walking on the right shoulder of the freeway when he wandered into traffic.
Subsequently, an oncoming Freightliner semi-truck moving southbound near Carroll Canyon Road struck him.
Due to the nature of the crash, the man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
At this time, CHP officers have not confirmed the reason why the man stepped into oncoming traffic. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm any unclear details.
