Hit-and-Run Driver Involved in Fiery Accident on Felicita Road in Escondido

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (May 26, 2021) – A suspected hit-and-run driver is now in critical condition following an accident on Felicita Road on May 24.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the intersection of Montview Drive, just north of 15 Freeway, around 8:20 PM.
 
Based on a report, the 26-year-old man was traveling southbound on Felicita when he struck at least one vehicle. Then, he crashed into a big rig tow truck parked near Montview. Consequently, the crash partially ejected the victim through the windshield of his vehicle. Then, the vehicle caught fire, but officers were able to pull him from the wreckage.
 
As a result, paramedics took the man to Palomar Medical Center, where he was in critical condition.
 
At this point, the Escondido Police Department is still investigating this accident on Felicita Road. In addition, it was not immediately clear if intoxication was a factor in the crash.
