Survey Worker Dies in Pedestrian Crash on Highway 62

MORONGO VALLEY, CA (May 11, 2022) — A survey worker died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 62 near Senilis Avenue on Monday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian accident occurred around 2:10 p.m. For unknown reasons, a driver operating a Ford F-150 truck in the No. 1 westbound lane crossed into the center median of the highway and struck a survey worker standing near his work truck.

Due to the force, the work truck collided with a Toyota RAV4 traveling eastbound in the No. 2 lane while the F-150 came to a stop in the center median.

Shortly after, emergency personnel responded to the scene and brought the survey worker to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where the 39-year-old man succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have yet to release his name.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Ford driver and an 18-year-old passenger to the same hospital with moderate wounds.

At this time, the ultimate cause of the crash needs more examination. However, CHP officers do not believe DUI played a factor in this accident. If anyone has more information on this crash, please contact the CHP.
