Spectator Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near National Drive in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA (April 7, 2022) — A sideshow spectator was hit by a hit-and-run driver near National Drive and Vista Park Court where nearly 60 people had gathered.

According to California Highway Patrol, the incident happened last Thursday around 12:20 a.m. As people gathered at the intersection – with up to 60 people watching an illegal sideshow – drivers began performing perilous stunts, including donuts.

At some point during the sideshow, a driver in a blue Dodge Charger spinning donuts near a bevy of spectators reportedly struck one person. Soon after, paramedics reached the scene and brought one person with major injuries to a hospital. However, the driver had left earlier on.

At this time, officers need witnesses’ help in identifying the whereabouts and identity of the driver in the Dodge Charger. Anyone with information should call the North Sacramento CHP Area Office at (916)348-3200.

Sideshows are dangerous to the public. Avoid reckless drivers. There could be a likelier chance that you could be hit as a pedestrian around these types of careless motorists.
