Fiery Car Crash Reported after Small Plane Lands on 91 Freeway in Corona

CORONA, CA (August 11, 2022) – A small plane crashed and landed on 91 Freeway on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on August 9 at about 12:31 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a single-engine Piper PA-32 flying to Corona Municipal Airport went down on the eastbound 91 Freeway.

As per reports, the plane crashed into the freeway in thick black smoke and flames. Also, the aircraft hit a Toyota Tundra near 15 Freeway.

The crash blocked at least two right lanes and the Corona police shut down the Lincoln Avenue onramp to make way for rescue and clearing operations.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that both the pilot and a passenger did not sustain injuries in the forced landing. Meanwhile, the three occupants in the pickup truck were also unharmed.

Corona police, the CHP, and the FAA continue to investigate the accident.

Piloting a small plane is a complex task that comes with numerous risks. Prevent aircraft accidents with adequate pre-flight planning and inspection.
