Three Vehicles Collide near M Street in Merced Injuring 6 People
MERCED, CA (May 3, 2023) – Six people were injured in a three-vehicle accident near M Street and West 23rd Street in Merced on Saturday evening.
The accident happened around 9:09 p.m. on April 29. According to the Merced Police Department, a Honda Pilot, driven by a 22-year-old man and a Toyota Camry, driven by a 24-year-old man, were traveling north on M Street at a higher rate of speed than a vehicle directly in front of them.
Police said at some point, the SUV and the sedan may have been involved in a crash behind a Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 44-year-old woman.
One of the vehicles collided with the truck causing it turn onto its side. The SUV crashed into the truck pinning it against a nearby tree.
Responding paramedics rushed one person to a trauma center with major injuries.
At least five other people were taken to area hospitals with minor injurie.
Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
