Traffic Accident near Aten and Forrester Roads Kills ICSO Deputy
IMPERIAL, CA (June 28, 2021) – A sheriff’s deputy was killed in a traffic accident near Aten Road and Forrester Road in West Imperial Saturday evening.
The accident happened around 7:40 p.m. on June 26. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white pickup ran a posted stop sign when it collided with an Imperial County Sheriff’s Office vehicle. Both vehicles then overturned into a field.
As a result, the sheriff’s deputy was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene.
Several other people suffered injuries. A ground ambulance transported three patients to hospitals. At least two helicopters also landed at the scene and airlifted two other patients.
The identity of the sheriff’s deputy was not immediately available.
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
