Driver Jumps Curb on Don Julio Boulevard at Watt Avenue, Fatally Striking Ethel Riley and Sheila Berry

 
NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA (October 31, 2021) – Two street vendors Sheila Berry and Ethel Riley died after struck by car on Don Julio Boulevard in North Highlands Friday afternoon.
 
The accident happened just before 3:30 p.m. on October 29 at Watt Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, 60-year-old Sheila Berry and 56-year Ethel Riley were in a parking lot in the area when they were hit.
 
The driver, an 18-year-old from North Highlands, drove a Hyundai Elantra westbound on Don Julio when she tried taking the light onto Watt. She lost control and went into the parking lot, striking the victims.
 
Berry and Riley both died at the scene. Both were residents of Carmichael.
 
Authorities said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor. In addition, the driver cooperated with law enforcement.
