Party Bus Overturns on Highway 99 in Merced Injuring Several Passengers

 
MERCED, CA (March 8, 2023) – Several passengers were injured after a bus accident on Highway 99 in Merced Saturday afternoon on March 4.
 
The accident happened just before 2:00 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Way exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, the party bus carrying 16 passengers was heading to Merced Fairgrounds when it experienced mechanical issues as it exited the highway. The driver swerved to avoid other cars before the bus eventually overturned.
 
Multiple passengers were transported to a local hospital with minor to moderate. All of them are expected to make a full recovery.
 
No arrests have been made.
 
CHP officials said alcohol or drugs did not play a role in the crash. An investigation is underway.
