Car Crashes into Semi-Truck on Highway 33 in Taft, Edgar Garcia and Sergio Mata Die

 
TAFT, CA (August 24, 2022) – Sergio Andres Lopez Mata and Edgar Eduardo Herrera Garcia died in a traffic accident in Taft on Sunday evening, August 21.
 
The accident happened just after 9:20 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 33 and Petroleum Club Road. According to the Taft Police Department, the two were in a car when they collided with a semi-trailer truck.
 
As a result, Mata and Garcia both died at the scene.
 
Mata was 45 years old from Tijuana, Mexico. He was the driver of the car. Garcia was 35 years old from Bakersfield.
 
It is unknown if there are other injuries sustained in the accident.
 
The exact cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
