OCEANSIDE, CA (May 3, 2022) – A San Diego Police officer suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway on April 29.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at Highway 76 around 6:00 AM.
 
Based on a report, the off-duty officer was removing tires of a vehicle at the time of the crash. At the same time, a semi-truck, driven by a 47-year-old Granada Hills resident, was traveling southbound on the freeway. Due to unknown reasons, two of its tires dislodged and rolled into the southbound traffic lanes.
 
The tires caused a traffic back-up and the victim pulled over and attempted to remove them from the road. Subsequently, a 22-year-old man driving a BMW hit her.
 
As a result, the officer suffered minor injuries in the incident.
